Cyclone Montha
October 2025 Update
Dear RHM Friends,
Greetings in the Name of our Precious Lord JESUS.
"For You have been a defense for the helpless, a defense for the needy in his distress,
a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat; for the breath of the ruthless
is like a rain storm against a wall." Isaiah 25:4
Cyclone Montha hit our primary state of ministry, Andhra Pradesh, and did significant damage. The word "montha" is from the Thai language (Thailand), meaning "beautiful flower" or "fragrant flower". And yes, a cyclone is the same as a hurricane, different regions of the world using either hurricane, cyclone or typhoon. Thankfully, not a huge amount of damage was incurred among the people we minister to, but as the photos & captions below show, there are some people in need of help. Please give as the Lord would lead you.
Sorry for the late update. I know it's not a big deal to most, but it's important to me to be on time. As some of you know, on October 14th I was standing outside my car in a parking lot, and an elderly man had a mental lapse of some kind, ran into my car, broke my leg and totaled the car. I don't have the strength I would like to have yet, but am thankful to be alive, and am thankful I still have a leg! The doctors put a rod into the leg, and it seems to be healing up nicely. Praise the Lord! I will try to keep the info coming as much as possible.
This year's Christmas Project is around the corner. Our goal this year is $3,500. Please give as He might lead you to do so. We will do ministry and give gifts according to the amount of funds which come in. If zero funds come, that's how much ministry and gifts will be given this year. So we are praying!
Please see and read the photos & captions below. These captions always give you things that you can pray for, as well as rejoice with us for what the Lord is doing in the lives of our precious Indian friends.
Thank you ALWAYS for your love, prayers and support! Bless you.
Brother Dan

ABOVE: The cyclone hit Bharathi's house, here with her son, Arun (15). Bharathi has HIV and is not able to hold down a job. Her husband died of AIDS, and she is one of our widows. The tarp seems to be holding up, but the leaves of this thatched roof home are deteriorating. The ideal fix is to provide new asbestos sheets. If funds don't allow, then a new tarp will be useful for them in future days. |

ABOVE: This is Muthyalu, part of a small village (also called an ST or "scheduled tribe" colony) we have been ministering to for a few years. Muthyalu is one of a few villagers who have come to the Lord. The men are not responsible for their families (many children), so we try to use the physical helps to share the love of Christ with all of them. If we have funds, we will try to put new tarps over their huts.

ABOVE: Venkamma is one of our widows. Her hut cannot stand up to the heavy rains without much leaking. |

|
|
|
ABOVE: This woman is also a tribal woman, her husband an irresponsible person who would likely leave his family in water rather than make changes in his life. We're not trying to build them new huts (which we've done in the past), but at least keep the women and children in the dry. |

ABOVE: This is Samrajyamma, a widow in a village called HR Nagar. Her hut also is in bad condition.

ABOVE: This is a mother with a few of her many children, also a tribal family. Her husband has 2 wives, and will not care for his family properly.

ABOVE: Nagamani (sitting) has cancer, and it's obvious she is in critical condition (I was shocked to see this photo, as she has lost so much weight). The girl standing in this poor photo is Rani with her little boy, Joy. Rani's husband and her sister are trying to get loans to pay for the treatment of this cancer. They are asking for help. If anyone feels led to give for Nagamani's cancer treatment, please do so.

ABOVE: We asked you to pray for Lakshmamma, one of our widows who had hip surgery a few weeks ago. She has been such a servant for others, but now is in a difficult position. She's recovering, but needs our prayers.

ABOVE: We also asked you to pray for this man, Subra Manyam, here with his wife on his granddaughter's birthday. He had a stroke and was in critical condition, but by the grace of our God and your prayers is doing better. Praise the Lord! |

ABOVE: Venkata Lakshmi (right, 11 years old) is using her home-made stethoscope to check Sister Lakshmi's heart rate. Of course it's a toy, but impressive that she made this herself. We're so thankful for this girl, who lost both her parents when she was very young, and has spent most of her life in hostels and with neighbors. Now she's happy in our girls home with 4 other girls. They're living in a rented home, our Sister Mary watching over them. |

ABOVE: Brother Marthababu giving a new Bible to Deborah, who just had her 9th birthday on the 29th of October. Her Daddy abandoned the family: a mother, Deborah and a 5 year old boy. |

ABOVE: Having a Bible study in Mary & Martha's living/bedroom, Mary & Martha on the front row. There are 2 other sisters in the photo, Sirisha & Prasanna, who we also help with education. The others are relatives joining in for the Bible study. We are so THANKFUL how the Lord is using this ministry to minister to relatives and neighbors, as well as the children we're working with! |
