RHM August Update

Dear RHM Friends,

Greetings in the Name of our Precious Lord JESUS. 
 
"For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another."  Romans 12:4-5
                                                                                                               
There are many Scriptures, particularly in the New Testament, that teach us how we need one another. Is there any part of our physical body that we don't need, that doesn't have a function? The medical field might make that claim, but remember, they don't know everything! There very well could be some use to certain body parts that the medical or scientific field simply hasn't discovered yet. So it is in the Body of Christ: we might not recognize the usefulness of some of the members (believers), but certainly the Lord has a purpose and a plan for each one. 
 
In my own studies, I'm recognizing more and more how any and every ministry that exists has great need for other Christians in order for their particular ministry to exist and to be successful in the Lord. In order to carry out this ministry to the poor in India, many parts of His Church are involved: those who are actually doing the hands-on ministry in India, currently 4 who are working full-time (not counting Raju's wife, Pavani, who just had a baby a couple of months ago), and 2 part-time ministers involved. But there are others who also help, including adults and youth who sometimes volunteer their time. There's auto rickshaw drivers and others...
 
Outside of India, there are those working on newsletters, updates, blog posts, helping with printing (our precious Sister Vonne in Pennsylvania has used her own money for over 10 years to do all of our printing, refusing to receive anything in return. Great is her reward in heaven!) And what about those who are giving financially; is there any ministry in India without financial givers??? And what about those who pray, whether they are giving financially or not? As we can see in the above Scriptures, God uses the different parts of His Body to accomplish His work on earth. So we can rejoice that it's not just one, two or a few people whom the Lord is using, but we are all working together as a team, co-laborers with Christ. Hallelujah! 
 
Below are several photos and captions giving updates concerning ones we have asked you to pray for, health or housing needs. Some praise reports are also there, the Lord hearing our cries. One very interesting caption shares the answers of 15 girls (ages 13-20) when asked, "What do you desire to do when you get out of college and are on your own?" Not one is thinking about being a stay-at-home mom (or they're not admitting that). Most are thinking about secular jobs of some kind, 5 of them saying that, in addition to a secular job, they want to serve God and/or the poor in some way. Five of them mentioned that their main goal was to serve Christ in some way. In a poor nation, those with these spiritual desires might not be able to find much financial assistance to reach their goals from within their own country. That's sad and shouldn't be that way, but it's true. I hope and pray that this ministry will become a channel of support for our children who have these deep desires to serve the Lord in ministry. Please pray for all our children.

ABOVE: This is Deborah and her little brother, Vijay Kumar, their mother and grandmother behind them, also praying. This is the family recently kicked out of their own home, now living in the town of Bapatla, closer to most of our ministry activities. Precious children!
ABOVE: This is Deborah and Vijay Kumar with their mother, Suvartha, and grandmother, Chandramma. The grandmother has been part of this ministry for many years as a widow. We are so thankful that through your giving the Lord has been providing them with food and supplies that they have needed during this move. Suvartha is now working, but since she's now in a town and doesn't know many other people, she cannot safely go work in agricultural fields as she did previously. She is making a small amount of money by cleaning homes in the area. Pray for Suvartha, who seems to be a faithful girl, working hard for her family, and staying away from the predators (men in the area looking for a vulnerable woman).
ABOVE: Brothers Raju and Marthababu and his wife, Pavani, took 11 girls to again see Brother Puthra's family in their village area, Puthra (maybe 45 years old) dying in an accident in May. It was August 15th, which is India's Independence Day, so here they are praying for the nation of India during a meeting held in Puthra's father Samuel's church.
ABOVE: Samuel is sitting, a Godly pastor for many years, with Puthra's son, Prem Raju, directly behind him, his daughter, Beulah, just to the left of her brother, and Puthra's wife, Chinni, to the right of her son. They are so appreciative that we are coming to visit them periodically; it is a real encouragement to them!
ABOVE: Probably on the return journey from Samuel's place, our group stopped by Brother Wesley's home and spent some time there. Wesley's wife Hannah, a school teacher, is also sitting.
ABOVE: I'm guessing this is somewhere the group stopped for breakfast before going to Samuel's place. Altogether, with the train journey and at least 2 auto rickshaw journeys, it would be about 3 hours from these girls' homes to Brother Samuel's church. Main reason for this photo is because we have asked you to pray for Prasanna (right) who had a growth removed, and also for Martha and Mary (2nd & 4th from the right), who have been weak and sickly recently. Praise the Lord that they were all able to go on this trip!
ABOVE: Another person we asked you to pray for is Brother Bhaskara Rao, who helps us with Sunday School ministry in 4 or 5 villages. He had 2 motorcycle accidents on the same day in early June after leaving this very village, Chilakala Colony. He was seriously injured, but thankfully didn't break anything. Now he has returned to ministry again, here with his headset on.
ABOVE: A very serious prayer request we put out to you recently was concerning Swarupa (right), here with her sister, Mahima. As far as I know, Swarupa (21) has never had any serious health problems, but was diagnosed earlier this month (August) with a blood clot on her brain (we have the photo of the MRI). The cost for treatment is very high, as well as a surgery the doctors are suggesting. Their family is poor, and our ministry doesn't have it to give, so her parents and Swarupa have opted to use a local doctor for medication, fully trusting the Lord for healing. Swarupa also has been very strong in her faith, which is amazing. As of this writing, she seems to be feeling much better, and should be having some more tests done soon. Pray for Swarupa, a Sunday School teacher in her village, and for the family's financial condition (they've taken some loans to cover the initial costs and treatment, which was high). 
ABOVE: This is Sister Chanti, one of our widows, and her son, Paul. For some reason (I honestly don't know why), the grandfather who they stay with made them leave the main part of the home and go to a verandah area, which is not enclosed to stop the rain (this is the rainy season, from June thru November). Please pray for them.
  ABOVE: From left are brothers Indra, Karthik and Vikram after receiving new school bags. Through gracious donors we have been helping these boys and their mother, Bhavana, since their Daddy died in late 2024.
ABOVE: Brother Wesley sharing with people (all relatives, but from a few different homes) in the village of Chilakala Colony. Marthababu (sitting on the right in a chair) and Pavani visit this village on a weekly basis.
ABOVE: Raju took these girls to visit a family in Peta in August. He had asked these 15 girls what they had in mind in regard to their future. Interesting results: 2 mentioned police, 1 getting a govt job in the Railway Dept (govt jobs are generally higher paying with better benefits), 1 just wanting any govt job, 2 said a teacher, 2 a nurse, 1 a lab technician, 1 a "job and ministry", 1 said "God's work (and part-time job), 1 a prayer warrior, 1 said "helping poor people", 1 a "soul winner", and 1 a missionary. We will see, if the Lord tarries, what actually happens with these children. Whether they work a job or not, we try to direct them to fulfill God's created purposes for their lives.
