Prayers for the Holidays

RHM September Update

Dear RHM Friends and Partners,

Greetings in the Name of our Precious Lord JESUS.

^"To this end also we pray for you always, that our God will count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ." 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12

This is perhaps not a prayer we hear about very often, but it is rich in meaning, as are all of Paul's amazing prayers, obviously inspired by the Holy Spirit! Instead of trying to look at every phrase, let's just hone in on the part that says "fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power". One of my favorite Verses in the Bible is Psalms 37:4, "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." This Verse and the one in 2 Thessalonians go together nicely. It's not selfish desires that the Lord has promised to fulfill; it's desires for "goodness", desires for "the work of faith with power"; it's when we delight ourselves in God...those are the desires we can trust Him to fulfill in our lives.

I'm connecting these thoughts with our upcoming excursions and special meetings which we're planning to conduct during the Dasara holidays. Dasara is one of 2 Hindu festival times when the schools (and some colleges) often give 8-12 days of holidays for the students. It's during these holidays that we like to schedule more activities and prayers (Christian meetings) with the children we are ministering to. This year there may be a total of 12 days for this holiday, and so far Brother Raju has planned 2 special prayers at different homes, 1 special day for boys only (place yet to be decided), a trip to a local theme park with children and youth, and a mission trip to reach out to villages with the Gospel. Our main goal is to accomplish His desires, and we're asking you to pray something similar to the above Scriptures over our team and the ministry during these days.

Please pray for Brother Wesley's extended family, as they experienced an unexpected loss in their family. Wesley's youngest brother (6 or 7 brothers in all), Babu, suddenly died of a heart attack on September 24th. I believe Babu was also a pastor, as Wesley is, and his wife and 2 daughters are broken-hearted. I can only guess he was about 50 years old.

One last item is that I am in a quandary concerning our Facebook pages, mine and RHM's. It seems that someone has hacked my account, and neither page has been working for days (not able to post). I have hundreds of "friends" who I never invited or know anything about. I'm not a big fan of Facebook anyway, but know that some of you on our mailing list might be seeing our posts via those pages. Until something changes, please go to our RHM Blog to see our posts. Most everything we post onto Facebook is coming from this blog page anyway. Please bookmark the blog page, so you can easily and quickly continue to view the latest that is going on in India.

ABOVE: This is the hut that Moses and Samadhanamma ("Peace") his wife live in. We have been helping Peace with her paralysis medication after she had a stroke a few years ago. Their son removed them from their own home, and other relatives are letting them stay here on their land.

ABOVE: Brother Wesley is praying for Samadhanamma outside her hut. I just learned today that the village elders will not allow us to build another hut here until some land boundaries have been established. Until that is completed, we are going to put a large tarp over their hut, which will help them when it rains. We're also helping (YOU are helping through your donations) with some other needed items as well.

ABOVE: Chandramma is one of our widows. Her son kicked her, her daugther and 2 grandchildren out of her home a few months ago. The Lord enabled us to move this family to the town of Bapatla to a rent home. It didn't have a fan, so here Brother Raju has the fan for her. It's already been installed.

ABOVE: We have been helping both of these girls, Abhinaya (left) and Akshaya with food for their health, mostly because the father (right) was not caring for the family. A sordid story which I will not share, but the mother, Sandhya (left), has suffered with many tears for years. Recently, the father has been suffering with health problems, which God has used to soften his heart. Now he is starting to listen to counsel, participating in the prayers (devotions), and has more love for his family. He's an electrician, but because of the health/heart problems he is limited in his ability to work. Pray for the Lord's continued work of grace in his heart.

ABOVE: Prem Raju (maybe 17) after receiving new books for his 12th grade studies. You might remember that his father, my friend Puthra, suddenly died in a motorcycle accident in May of this year. Some of our financial partners gave for their family, so Prem's education is one of a few needs that are being met at this time. Praise the Lord for His merciful provision! I will never forget the day when Prem's grandmother died (she was in a hospital). I was there, and we were wondering how to tell the grandfather (Brother Samuel, the pastor of their church). Suddenly, Prem Raju just went inside the church where his grandfather was and held him with many tears. Then the grandfather understood, and also wept. They held on to one another for quite a while.

ABOVE: Our children's ministry friend, Bhaskara Rao, has healed up after some motorcycle accidents in June, and is again visiting villages to conduct Sunday School classes. This SS class is in the village of Nandayapalem (the same village where Moses and Peace are living, 1st photo). The tallest boy is Samuel, whom we're helping with education, now in the 10th grade.

ABOVE: This SS class is in the village of KB Palem. I think most of these children are faithful to come each time that Bhaskara Rao comes to their village, precious seeds being planted in their hearts.

ABOVE: From left are Sirisha (20), Martha (21), Soniya (16) and Mary (21), all of them getting ready to board a train with Raju and some of his family members to travel to the big city of Hyderabad for an excursion/ministry trip. You can see the Bapatla sign just behind Mary.

ABOVE: Here, the same 4 girls are studying their Bibles in Raju's sister-in-law's home in Hyderabad.

ABOVE: One of the main reasons for this trip was to visit some other girls who are working in Hyderabad as nurses. The 3rd and 4th girls from the left are Sibani and Leya. Both girls, along with Deepa (not in photo), I met during the years I was involved with ministry in their state of Odisha. Totally apart from our knowledge or efforts, these girls were able to study in a nursing college in our state of Andhra Pradesh, very near to our main ministry area. We thank God that He has enabled us to stay in fellowship with these Odisha girls. Two of them are now working full-time jobs, while one of them is still studying at the college, but doing her internship in Hyderabad.

ABOVE: Raju and the girls are having a time of prayer together. Three of our 4 girls, all living in the town of Bapatla, are also in nursing college. Soniya, the youngest, might go into nursing, but has a greater desire to train to be a missionary. Of course she could do both, and we are praying about her future and the Lord's purposes for her.

ABOVE: Here they are at a park in Hyderabad, the 3 Odisha girls to the right, our 4 girls next to them, then Keren (Raju's little girl), then Raju's sister-in-law and his wife's parents. Raju's wife, Pavani, couldn't go because she just had a 2nd child a couple of months ago.

ABOVE: I don't recognize this place in Hyderabad, but it looks like a beautiful place, somewhere most of our children would never see except through these excursions. We thank the Lord for our financial partners! Without you, these excursions would not be possible. I don't remember if we have done any excursions to the larger cities since I was stopped at the airport and turned back to the US in January 2024. So it's probably been 2023 since we've had any of these trips. Most all of our excursions and special meetings are now being done locally, near to the children's homes.

ABOVE: Precious girls! With your help and prayers, we will continue to give our lives to minister to the poor children and their families, doing all in the Name of Jesus, and by His grace working to make them into faithful followers and disciples of His.
