More Corona Relief Help Requested
Helping Some of the Poorest in India
May 21 RHM Update
Dear RHM Friends,
Greetings in the Name of our Precious Lord JESUS.
We have 2 main needs/opportunities to share with you in this update:
1. More Corona Relief help for the poor. I don't have complete and accurate statistics, but it's likely that nearly 2,000 people have been assisted via RHM funds so far (this is not including what the HOPE ministry is also doing with Corona Relief work). Most of these people are from the poor tribal villages, some part of the widows & elderly ministry. For most of these people, there have been 2 different distributions of food and other cooking items; for some we have given only one time so far.
The Corona funds are now gone, but the lockdown is still affecting many people. Some are now able to work, but many are not. Some cannot work due to the fact that there is very little agricultural work during this hottest part of the summer (April thru June in this part of India). For many, their field works will not begin until June or July, so they are fishing or doing whatever other menial jobs they can for the time being. Please pray about helping us to continue reaching out to the poor during this season.
Please be aware: When you give for the Corona Relief work, there is RHM Corona (going on in 3 main areas of India, and other random locations as well) and there is HOPE Corona (most of their relief work connected with the area near to HOPE). If you want your assistance to go for the HOPE relief work, then you must designate your gift as such. If you give to RHM General (or make your check to RHM with nothing in the memo), then we will use those funds where most needed. If you're wanting your gift to go to any specific aspect of ministry, it's always necessary to designate it as such. There are MANY different areas of ministry which RHM is involved in (Widows & elderly, Corona relief, HOPE, helping in persecuted areas, helping pastors, and many other isolated needs which arise).
2. As you look at the photos & captions below, you will see one village which we are calling Karlapalem ST (ST meaning Scheduled Tribes, one of the lowest "castes" within India's demonic caste system which is very discriminatory). You can see that their living conditions are pathetic. It's very much in our hearts to reach out more to these people in the coming days. They are very near to Brother Prasanth's church, so already a few of these 29 people are coming to the church or Sunday School. We would like to build them 5 new huts, plus cover another hut with a large tarp. All of the huts we will cover with grass and tarps a little later on, after the heat reduces some. The total cost for all this is around $1,000. Please pray about helping us with the construction of these new huts.
Scroll down to see photos & captions of what's happening during these lockdown days, and ask the Lord how He might have you to be a part of His great love in meeting some of these needs. I have no idea how hot this oven is, but surely it's over 100 every day, so pray for us. Thank you always for your love, prayers and support! Bless you.

ABOVE: This is the small Karlapalem ST village mentioned above. There are 4 huts here that we would like to build, another one less than a quarter mile away near Brother Prasanth's El Bethel church.

ABOVE: Little Padma with her grandmother in the Karlapalem ST village. A very needy girl, as you can see in the next photo.

|
ABOVE: We don't know what caused this growth or deformity in Padma's back. The villagers are saying it was once diagnosed as TB (tuberculosis), so she has been under TB medication from the government. We have no idea if TB would cause such a growth, but the villagers have testified that since the little girl and her family started attending the church, the growth has been reducing in size. She doesn't seem to be in great pain, but sometimes says it hurts. Please pray for Padma. We will let you know if it becomes an issue where some surgery is needed. Praying for a miracle!

ABOVE: About half of the Karlapalem ST villagers, another 2 families near the church, and a few not in the village when this photo was taken a couple of days ago.

ABOVE: No, this is not the same village, but another village which we call the Adavi ST village, which is less than 200 yards from the ocean (Bay of Bengal). Working with another pastor named Hanock (Telugu for Enoch in Genesis 5) in doing the Corona relief work in this village.

|
ABOVE: This is also the above Adavi ST village, a few of the villagers with their children. We can't see any difference between the 84 people in this village versus the 29 in the Karlapalem ST village, as they're all sailing in the same poverty boat. But seeing that there are nearly 30 huts in this village, we feel somewhat helpless to help them with their homes. Trying to gather some clothes now to do a clothes distribution in this village soon.

ABOVE: Amrutha (right) is giving snacks to the children in Adavi ST. Amrutha and her sister, Rani, have been a big help in the packing of food, and in the actual distributions. This day (just 3 days ago on the 18th), we did the 2nd distribution of food in this village.

ABOVE: Here, Brothers Prasanth and Raju (left) are overseeing the distribution in the village of Yazali (192 people in the ST part of the village). As you can see, "social distancing" is near to impossible with so many people living close together, and a few of these people came from the neighboring village to demand that we also give to them. Wouldn't it be great to be able to give to ALL the poor people in India? Obviously it's not possible, but by His grace and plan He can work through us for a few.

ABOVE: Brother Raju and I were looking at a widow's hut to see what needed to be done, and low and behold, directly across the road his own grandmother (right) was in quarantine in this school compound! She and a few other people had gone to a city for field work, when that city became a "red zone" and was locked down. So they suffered in the red zone for some time, then were sent back to their village area, this school near Karlapalem. Raju's family knew she had gone to the city for work, but hadn't heard from her. The day after this photo was taken last week, she came out of quarantine and we had the blessing of assisting them with food.

ABOVE: This is one of the HOPE distributions, this one to some of the neighbors which surround the HOPE girls home and school. Remember, RHM and HOPE are 2 separate entities, so if you want to do anything specifically via the HOPE ministry, please designate it as such. Thanks!

ABOVE: Mangamma from Subba Reddy Colony, one of the members of our widows & elderly ministry. Such a broken life recently: she and her husband are already in poverty, and she had to have a major kidney operation recently to remove stones. Almost immediately after that was complete, the doctors found stones in the other kidney as well. Her mother is also on the property, part of the widows & elderly ministry as well. Mangamma's daughter-in-law died maybe one year ago, leaving her son with 2 little boys to raise. The mother, son and 2 children stay in a small cement home, but Mangamma and her husband have been staying HERE! Just 2 or 3 nights ago there were high winds, ripping the material apart. We're planning to start a new hut in the next few days.

ABOVE: Another woman in the widows & elderly ministry, Chilakamma, lives here. Well, she did before it started leaking too bad to live in. She's now with her daughter. We're planning to build a new thatched roof soon (waiting for a sufficient amount of leaves to dry for 5 different houses).

ABOVE: Women in an ST village called Madala Narayana, waiting in line for a distribution. In this village, and 5 others, RHM has teamed up with Brother Hanock's ministry to be able to do these distributions. There's 67 people in 31 families in this village. Thank GOD for the Body of Christ, working together to accomplish HIS WORK on the earth!

ABOVE: Behind the scenes of every distribution are the faithful workers doing the packing of the food, oil, vegetables, etc. This is in Brother Hanock's girls home, some of his staff, Amrutha, Rani and a pastor named Jacob helping with the packing.

ABOVE: I stay on the HOPE boys property, and was really impressed as I saw the oldest boy, Yesubabu (14), stitching (with a thread and needle) a little "house" together. This started as the little boy Moses' project (he's 10), and Moses did an amazing job, but didn't know how to do the stitching properly. This was done 3 weeks ago, and even with intense heat, strong winds and a couple of rains, it's still standing!
