A Happy Wedding for Teja

Dear RHM Friends,

Some of you may remember Teja. I became acquainted with Teja (her name meaning "light" or "radiant") when she first came into the HOPE children's home in India in 2002 at 5 years old. She lived at HOPE until 2018 (21 years old at the time). While there, she finished her basic studies, attended nursing college, and worked with the girls for maybe one year or more after completing her college. For the last year or 2 she has been working at a hospital as a nurse in the city of Vijayawada.

After her own mother died when she was very small, then her father remarried. The stepmother was very abusive, verbally and physically, so Teja was a fearful and emotionally troubled girl when small. But the Lord has done a good work in her life, and she has come to truly love the Lord. Recently, she had concern that her father would arrange a marriage for her with any boy, believer or not, as long as it didn't cost him much money. So she asked some believers to pray about finding a Godly young man for her to marry.

Two different believers thought about the same young man as they were praying. This young man, Srikanth (photos below with Teja in their marriage that took place today), almost died in an auto rickshaw accident about 5 or 6 years ago (approximately). His entire family was Hindu at the time. The situation looked hopeless, and much money had been spent to help him, but it appeared he was going to die. The Lord put it in the heart of a school teacher to go and pray for him. At about the same time this teacher was praying for him, Srikanth's Hindu Dad had a vision of a light coming into the room to heal his son. By the grace of GOD, from that time the boy began to heal. Through this experience, Srikanth, his sister, and both his parents came to Christ. Hallelujah! I have known them for some time, and their family seems to be very faithful to the Lord and to attend the prayers.

To make a long story short, today Teja and Srikanth were married. For reasons it's better not to discuss, we did not share about this wedding before now. We thank GOD that everything went well, and the couple is very happy. The total expenses that I am aware of are about $1,700 for the dresses, rings, photography, arrangements, meals for guests, etc. If any of you feel led to participate in these expenses, it is greatly appreciated! If we happen to get donations for more than this amount, it will be used to help the new couple with any future expenses. I don't know at this time what their future plans are (staying in the same house with his parents, or getting their own place), but any extra funds will be useful for them, I'm sure. Please pray for the newly wedded couple! By the way, today (the 15th) is also Teja's 24th birthday, so it's a double portion of blessing for her.

"The Lord has done great things for us [in this case, Srikanth & Teja], and we are glad."
Psalms 126:3

Thank you always for your love, prayers and support! Bless you. Scroll down to see a few photos of Teja, then the last 2 photos of today's wedding.

ABOVE: Teja (left) has a nice talent of working with children, especially teaching, sharing stories, and doing skits. Here, she and Kumari are doing a skit in 2017 in a village when Teja was 20 years old and working with the children at the HOPE home. Kumari is a girl whom our donors helped with marriage expenses in July 2020. She and her young husband seem to be doing well.

ABOVE: Not sure what's happening here, but it looks like they're either getting down on their knees for prayer, or getting up from prayer. Brother Benjamin is the pastor on the left who likely prayed for them.
